About this deal

There have been several books throughout my journey with the Lord that have impacted me so profoundly that I now view the reading of them as milestones in my life. With new relevance, and at such a poignant time for persecuted Christians, this book is set to inspire a whole new generation of readers. Really, except for that one part of the story my mother censored, this book is acceptable for any age. His journey from a non-believer to a powerful force spreading the gospel was beautiful to read, as was seeing how God worked in his life to further His purpose. I loved hearing about the incredible and specific ways that certain needs were met, along with the divine protection that they encountered every step of the way.

An autobiography, God's Smuggler tells the story of his early childhood, conversion to Christianity, and adventures as a Bible-smuggler behind the Iron Curtain. Written in a style similar to The Hiding Place: 25th Anniversary Edition, I highly recommend this powerful story of a life of service, adventure and faith. It doesn’t encourage just through Brother Andrew's faith though; it encourages by the faith of the believers who gave up jobs, education, homes, security, and countries all for the Gospel.

While it has value as a read about the Cold War era it is told from the point of view of a Christian missionary (and those involved with him. And with over ten million copies sold, God's Smuggler has thrilled and inspired readers for more than 40 years. After deciding to tackle it, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was easy to read and extremely engaging. Brother Andrew’s story in “God’s Smuggler” is a story of great God’s amazing power to advance the Gospel behind the Iron Curtain of communism. God's provision for those who ask and wait is incredible, whether it was for tuition money, knowledge of his mission field, people, supplies.

After leaving the army he applied for Bible school in the UK and studied at the Bible Training Institute (now the International Christian College) in Glasgow, Scotland. After being involved in a massacre of Indonesian villagers while he was serving as a soldier, [2] he endured a period of severe emotional stress, and later was wounded in the ankle during the fighting. In similar fashion, van der Bijl and a companion, Al Janssen, visited Hamas and PLO leaders, including Ahmed Yassin and Yasser Arafat. This is a book every Christian, especially young people, should read, whether you're interested in missions or not. Each time he went, he encouraged the Christians that they were not forgotten by their brothers around the world.I had forgotten that Brother Andrew includes his own personal testimony in the earlier chapters of the book. As you read his incredible story of faith and miracles, you’ll understand why we believe that all doors are open to God. In the 1940s he enlisted in the colonial army of the Dutch East Indies during the Indonesian National Revolution. This is really one of the best books I've ever read, and I think I will now read everything else that he's written. Eventually, he founded Open Doors, a mission that supports and spreads awareness about persecuted Christians.
